I like to cut vinyl without a mat and i like to save my mat for other things like card stock that does require a mat.

To see how it s done follow these steps.
The silhouette cameo can cut up to 12 inches wide and 16 5 feet long if you are cutting without a mat.
If you are cutting media without using a cutting mat select none in the cutting mat options.
At that point instead of loading the mat i loaded vinyl.
The cut border is generally the size of the material you are working with.
The second option to cut without a mat is new and exclusive to the cameo 4 models and higher.
To do that i set the machine to load media.
Later when i went back to using the mat i left the settings on load media.
You will see the cutting mat disappear from your design window.
The largest mat size is 12 x24.
If you have longer than 12 12 inch material you must adjust the material size and the cutting mat size in the design page.
With this feature the cameo 4 will make cuts but keep the material in place using perforation cuts in strategic places.

To cut longer than the mat you will have to load the htv into the cameo a little different than usual.
I tried it with this recent project and have a few observations tips and suggestions.
