Building out a fireplace wall.
Hope this video helped if you too want to build a fireplace.
Actually it s not great.
We built a frame much like a small wall and attached it to the studs on the wall.
Mark the dimensions of the fireplace against the wall and the footprint of the fireplace on the floor using painter s tape.
I used 1 x 4 pine wood around the tile and mitered it in the corners.
I did have to run the wood through my table saw to thin it out just a hair so that it was the same thickness as the tile.
The pvc pipe sticking out to the left houses all our tv cords.
Building a fireplace mantel is a great beginner building project that anyone can handle.
It sticks out about 8 inches from the exterior.
Step 2 cut the metal lath with a utility knife to fit inside the painter s tape so the dimensions of the fireplace are covered both against the wall and on the floor.
The second wall gives the fireplace dimension.
It was basically a big box with studs every 16 inches on center.

One we had wall one secured to the exterior wall we started building our second wall.
So once the fireplace was framed out and the built in cabinetry installed we had two feet of drywall on the left side of the windows and about 6 visible on the right.
You ll need just a few supplies and tools to get the job done.
